The National Economic Council (NEC) Implementation Monitoring Committee (IMC), established under the chairmanship of the Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency, Senator Kashim Shettima, GCON, has concluded its North-East field visits, with Borno State serving as the final stop in the regional project assessment exercise.

The North-East team, led by the Honourable Commissioner of Planning and Economic Development, Borno State, Hon. (Dr.) Maina Yaumi, paid a courtesy visit to the Deputy Governor of Borno State, His Excellency, Dr. Umar Usman Kadafur, who emphasized the importance of sustained collaboration between the Federal and State Governments in addressing the region's recovery and development challenges.

During the visit, the Committee assessed the implementation of key projects across Borno State, covering infrastructure, healthcare, agriculture, education, and other strategic development initiatives, as part of its mandate to monitor projects arising from resolutions of the National Economic Council (NEC) and other legacy projects.

The sites visited included:

  2. Borno Liquid Nitrogen Plant, College of Agriculture.

  3. Poultry Farm, College of Agriculture.

  4. L-Pres Model Veterinary Hospital, Kasuwan Shanu.

  5. University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital (UMTH) Patients' Relatives Hotels.

  6. Post Office Flyover.

  7. Nurses' Quarters.

  8. International Conference Centre.

  9. Six-Span Bridge.

  10. National Community Food Bank Programme at Shuwari II Primary Healthcare Centre.

  11. HERWA EV Mega Charging Station.

  12. Alau Dam.

  13. Kashim Ibrahim University Teaching Hospital.

  14. Bell Shelter.

  15. JAMB Zonal Office.

  16. National Orthopaedic Hospital, Muna.

  17. Abba Ganaram Junior Secondary School.

The Borno assessment marks the successful conclusion of the Committee's field visits across the North-East, reaffirming the National Economic Council's commitment, under the leadership of Vice President Senator Kashim Shettima, GCON, to promoting accountability, effective project implementation, and sustainable development. The exercise also underscores the Council's resolve to ensure that development projects deliver tangible benefits to citizens while strengthening collaboration between the Federal and State Governments in advancing national development objectives.
