Governor Zulum Pays Condolence Visit to Gumel Emirate
His Excellency, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, Executive Governor of Borno State, on Sunday, 6 September 2026, paid a condolence visit to the Government and people of Jigawa State following the passing of the late Emir of Gumel, Alhaji Ahmed Muhammad-Sani.
Governor Zulum’s first point of call was the Jigawa State Government House, where he condoled with His Excellency, Governor Umar Namadi, over the loss. The two Governors thereafter proceeded to Gumel, where Governor Zulum joined the traditional institution, the bereaved family and the people of the Emirate in mourning the late Emir.
At Gumel, Governor Zulum offered prayers for the repose of the soul of the deceased and expressed his heartfelt sympathy and solidarity with the Emirate, the bereaved family and the people of Jigawa State during this period of grief.
The Governor was accompanied by the Honourable Commissioner for Planning and Economic Development, Hon. Maina Yaumi, and the Special Adviser on Monitoring and Evaluation, Engr. Baba Bukar Gujibawu.
Governor Zulum was unavoidably absent from the funeral rites due to his official engagement in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire. However, immediately upon his return, the Governor considered it important to personally visit Gumel to pay his respects and convey his condolences to the bereaved family and the people of the Emirate.
The visit underscores the Governor’s commitment to strengthening bonds of solidarity and brotherhood with fellow Governors, traditional institutions and communities across the country, particularly during moments of grief and loss.
May Almighty Allah forgive the shortcomings of the late Emir, grant him Aljannatul Firdaus, and grant the Emirate, the bereaved family and the people of Jigawa State the fortitude to bear this great loss. Ameen.
